Ruifan Xuan is a concert pianist, educator, and collaborative artist with an international profile across performance, coaching, and teaching — known for her expressive depth, artistic integrity, and wholehearted commitment to musical growth.

She is a graduate of the Royal College of Music, where she completed both her Artist Diploma and Master of Music under the mentorship of renowned pianist Professor Gordon Fergus-Thompson. Her musical foundation is deeply rooted in the European classical tradition, shaped by rigorous training, artistic excellence, and an ever-curious, evolving artistry.

As a soloist, Ruifan has performed extensively across the UK, Europe, and China. Recent engagements include recitals at St James’s Piccadilly, Westminster Library, The National Gallery, Austrian Cultural Forum, and Oxford University Church. She is a prizewinner in several international competitions, including First Prize at the Vienna IPP International Competition and the Gold Prize at the Beijing Piano Festival.

A sought-after collaborative pianist, Ruifan has worked with institutions such as Royal Holloway University of London, Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, and BBC Young Musician. Her intuitive, refined approach to ensemble playing brings clarity and unity to collaborations across a wide range of instrumental and vocal repertoires.

Equally dedicated to education, Ruifan has over a decade of teaching experience and runs her own private studio in London, specialising in piano and musicianship training. She teaches both one-to-one and group musicianship classes, drawing on Kodály, Dalcroze Eurhythmics, creative improvisation, and her own performance expertise.

Her pedagogical journey began at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where she studied and completed teaching related modules.  She has worked extensively with children of all abilities, including students with autism and hearing impairments. Her educational style is inclusive, thoughtful, and student-centred.

Ruifan’s musicianship teaching is further enriched by her aural training — including the Level 7 Aural Musicianship module at the RCM with Miranda Francis — which continues to inform her aim of building fluent, intuitive, and musically literate young artists.

She continues to perform, teach, and collaborate with musicians across the UK and internationally, bringing care, clarity, and a genuine love for music to every note she shares.
